Simulating water in AutoCAD

AutoCad: Tutorial on How to Simulate Water Effect in Rendering:

1 - On the screen we have the project of a swimming pool that will be used to create and simulate a water-type material.

2 - Note that a flat surface has been created inside the pool., representing the water level.


3 - Initially, Let's access the AutoCad material editor (Tools > Palettes > Materials), create a new material and name it “Water”.

4 - For material template, let's select the WATER option (Water).

5 - Note that the index of refraction (refraction index) was adjusted to 1,33. This value represents the real behavior of water.


6 - Now let's apply the material to the flat surface and render the scene.

7 - Rendering the scene.

Observe that the surface has become transparent and the refraction of the material is causing the tiles seen through the plane to be in a different position than they actually are. However, the water is still a little dark.


8 - Therefore, let's return to the material editor and increase the brightness of the water diffusion color, selecting a shade closer to white.

9 - To end, we can produce a sensation of movement in the water, applying an image to the BUMP MAP field (bump map) and configuring the scale and presence values.
