SolidWorks: Online Help in Portuguese

Hey guys!

For those just getting started with SolidWorks, worth checking out the program's Online Help.

Web Help Content Version is for SolidWorks 2010 SP02.1. For those who own SolidWorks 2010, it is also accessible through the program's Help.

When you access Help, a web version of the documentation is displayed in a web-based view. You can choose to use the local help file (.chm) when, for example, Internet connection is slow or unavailable.

Web-based Help includes the following features:

  • To look for. Identifying relevant topics with a relevance ranking, spelling error correction, short descriptions in each results view and guided navigation.
  • Topic navigation. Navigation with previous and next topic buttons, as well as structural navigation at the top of topics.
  • User Comments. Comments on individual topics are sent directly to the documentation team.
  • Updated documentation. With access to Help on the Web, no need to download bulky compiled files (.chm). No need to install SolidWorks to access Web Help. In your browser's address bar, digite http://help.solidworks.com and select your language and product to view web-based Help.
  • Links to the Knowledge Base. Automatically finds content related to each Help topic in the SolidWorks Knowledge Base (requires SolidWorks Subscription Service and Customer Portal login).

To Use Web-Based Help Within SolidWorks, you need to have internet explorer 7 or 8 installed.

To switch between help on the web and the local file:

  • Check or uncheck Help > Using SolidWorks Help on the Web.

Tips for using Web Help:

To select a topic, use the Content panel.

To run a search:

  • Enter a term and click Search.
  • Examine the descriptions in the results to determine the most relevant topic. Below each description is a line showing the topic hierarchy for structural navigation.
  • Adjust your search by selecting a category on the left.

Tips for using Local Help:

To select a topic, use the Content tab.

To run a search:

  • Click on the Search tab, enter a term and click List Topics. Select a topic and click View.
  • Create boolean searches using AND operators (e), OR (or), NOT (no) e NEAR (next to).
  • Check Search previous results to use only previously found topics in the next search. This allows you to narrow your search by adding keywords.
  • Check Search similar words to highlight similar words in found topics. For example, if you are searching "Open", the topics with both words "Open" e "will open" will be found.
  • Check Search titles only to find only topics where the keyword is part of the title.
