WEG and MAN develop Brazil's first electric truck

A WEG S.A. announces partnership with MAN Latin America, for the development of the first light truck 100% electricity developed in Brazil.

The e-Delivery model, will be equipped with the WEG Powertrain system, formed by a new electric motor that delivers 80 kW (109 cv) power plus a frequency inverter. Beyond Powertrain, WEG will also supply the electric motors and auxiliary inverters for the air compressor systems, hydraulic pump and air conditioning.

The project, developed in partnership with Eletra, for traction of commercial vehicles, It also has lithium-ion battery banks and an autonomy of up to 200 kilometers, depending on the application and vehicle configuration.

e-Delivery will be developed with engineering 100% national. The start of operations in pilot fleets is scheduled for next year. The project was presented to the market by Volkswagen to meet the green logistics segments, Zero emissions and circulation in low noise places.

With long tradition in supplying electric bus traction systems, trolley, trains and ships, Weg now takes an important step in its growth strategy in the urban delivering electric vehicle market. “Besides the consolidation of the company in the electric mobility systems market, We are inserting WEG engineering in the world scenario of the automotive industry”, Afirma Manfred Peter Johann, Superintendent Director of Weg Automation.
